About the Role

Position Summary: 


We are seeking a passionate and reliable Staff Accountant. In this role you will assist our Controller with various tasks, including but not limited to, managing accounts payable & receivable, monitoring and reporting on expenses, and ensuring accurate financial reports. This role requires the ability to handle several projects at any one time as well as being able to respond quickly to internal team requests. This is a full-time role located at The Ugly Company headquarters in Farmersville, CA. 


Essential duties and responsibilities: 
Accounts Payable 
  • Process and pay vendor invoices 

  • Reconcile accounts and vendor statements 

  • Track and Report on accounts payable aging reports 

  • Post expenses to the general ledger 


Accounts Receivable
  • Intake new customers - Enter data, set payment terms, and perform credit checks 

  • Prepare and send customer invoices in a timely manner 

  • Assist in collecting and depositing payments 

  • Perform cash receipts and post payments to the General Ledger 

  • Track and report on accounts receivable aging reports 

  • Facilitate collections - Placing customers on hold / sending account statements. 


Cost Tracking 
  • Accurate and timely data collection of manufacturing’s operational expenses 

  • Develop then monitor manufacturing cost standards 

  • Report on cost variances 


Payroll 
  • Reconcile or audit payroll accounts and investigate and report irregularities

  • Calculating wages, deductions, bonuses and taxes 

  • Assist in running payroll (Direct Deposit) and paying payroll taxes 

  • Enter 401k contributions to thestandard.com 


General 
  • Close accounting books on a monthly basis 

  • Prepare and share financial statements with leadership 

  • Manage depreciation schedule and facilitate fixed asset adjustments 

  • Perform bank reconciliations 

  • Work with CPA to prepare financial statements for tax filing 

  • Maintain and organize financial paperwork 

  • Manage sales tax deposits 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 
Education and Experience 
  • 1-2 years experience in accounting is encouraged, but not required 

  • Experience in Sage is encouraged, but not required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Administration or related field. 


Language 
  • English (verbal and written) required 

  • Spanish (verbal and written) is a plus 


Skills 
  • Knowledge of GAAP Principles 

  • Strong mathematical skills 

  • Strong Problem Solving Skills 


Miscellaneous
  • Reports to Controller 

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None 

  • Status: Non-Exempt
